Abacus Pupil Activity Software Ginn Customer Services PO Box 380 Halley Court Jordan Hill Oxford OX2 8RS Email: enquiries@ginn.co.uk Website: http://www.myprimary.co.uk/ginn.asp This set of software is written by Ruth Metterns ( you may remember her from the Cambs. 2003 Maths Conference at Peterborough) and David Kirby. As with any software you can buy a site licence or single user versions. This software is linked to the Abacus Teaching Cards but can be used as a totally stand alone resource. There is a CD for each Year group from Year 1 to Year 6. To set you off there is a tour, which explains everything extremely well. You can input your class/groups/individuals and select which activity you want them to do and at what level. This wouldn’t take too long to do. There are 3 differentiated levels for each activity. You can then access the children’s results and print them off if you require. The activities are divided into terms for each year and these are closely NNS objective related. The whole CD, once set up, can be accessed by the children and worked at independently. The activities are very varied and colourful, but with a slightly irritating voice accompanying them. If you visit their website (see above) you can have a look at sample pages and order evaluation copies online. Definitely a series worth looking at. Back to Software Reviews List
